Introduction

The project Homes and Houses is about living and housing. In six lessons, pupils experience and identify the differences and similarities in who you live with in a house, the houses themselves, and the street you live in. The children communicate about this with fellow pupils abroad. The project utilises CLIL methodology. CLIL stands for Content and Language Integrated Learning. This means that learning a foreign language (in this case, English) and working on intercultural competences take place in an integrated way.

What are the pupils going to learn and do?

Pupils learn which rooms are in a house and how they are furnished.

Pupils explore different living arrangements and family structures.

Pupils talk about their own environment and compare it with environments elsewhere, from the perspective of living.

Pupils explore how they and other children live in their neighborhood and compare this with children in a different neighborhood.

The pupils discover that people can speak different languages.

The pupils develop their skills as users of the English language.
